Clearly, the “cracker” Minamoto did a lazy job and don’t know how to crack software. It’s an [expletive] SINGLE BOOLEAN SWITCH that validates the licence, it doesn’t require any Application Enhancer tricks or whatever.

I demand that you don’t remove this torrent, so that people can laugh at Minamoto and CORE skills. However, I also demand the better crack to be made, so that it doesn’t cripple the user experience of my beautiful program.

This just shows why Adobe are running for cover trying to delay the final HTML5 standard to be published.

They should have seen this coming a long time ago, but instead of going back to basics with their Flash software they decided more is better. More features, more resources required, more, well, flash. And now that HTML5 is here they have a very expensive piece of software that nobody’s going to remember in five years from now.

It’s amazing how big companies behave like headless chicken when the market overtakes them. They should give up on Flash and embrace HTML5 like there’s no tomorrow. Instead, they will try to defend it in court and use whatever power they have left in their 90%+ (for now) market share to milk it. And one day, they’ll wake up and realize that nobody needs it. Hell, all these millions of people with iPads and iPhones know it already.

Exista doua mari pericole pentru PDL in aceasta perioada: fie panica, fie pasivitatea. Panica nu e justificata, pentru ca aceasta scadere in sondaje este fireasca in conditiile in care se aplica un program de austeritate, dar la fel de periculoasa ar fi si pasivitatea. PDL are nevoie de o perioada de stabilizare dupa acest soc al masurilor de austeritate si dupa acest soc electoral, are nevoie de asemenea de o perioada de relansare si toate aceste perioade trebuie strabatute pana in 2012, deci timpul este foarte scurt.

Ca de obicei Valeriu Stoica reuseste sa explice intr-o fraza ceea ce toti intuim dar nu sintem in stare sa articulam. Cel mai grav este ca nici PDL-ul nu pare sa inteleaga situatia in care sintem ca partid.

Nicio autoritate a statului nu va interveni in decizia unui comerciant daca respecta legea. Este o masura de natura administrativa si preventiva pentru corecta informare a cetateanului pentru a lua deciziile cele mai corecte. In perioada de criza pot sa apara speculatii in piata.

Ce inseamna oare derapaj in viziunea domnului Videanu? Se vor da amenzi? Care este problema cu specularea unor conditii prielnice in piata? Nu asta inseamna capitalismul?

Se pare ca dintr-o data sistemul de cerere si oferta nu mai functioneaza si trebuie sa intervina ANPC-ul, acesti campioni ai apararii drepturilor consumatorilor cu orice pret, chiar sacrificind principiile de baza ale economiei de piata.

Sa fim seriosi, un om care are acces la internet este destul de inteligent incit sa poata face si singur comparatia de preturi. Nu vad de ce am cheltui bani de la stat pentru un serviciu total inutil. Statul trebuie sa se dea la o parte din calea actorilor privati din piata, nu sa intervina si mai mult. Iar faptul ca in Grecia ar fi scazut preturile cu 7% este irelevant. Daca ei sint fericiti cu un guvern interventionist este problema lor.

Derapajul populist in scopul aburirii populatiei nu poate merge la infinit. Am tot respectul pentru domnul Videanu, dar pe bune, perdelele de fum nu au functionat niciodata, nicaieri. Si cu toate astea oamenii politici se incapatineaza sa le foloseasca in situatiile in care se simt la inghesuiala.

Ceva trebuie sa se schimbe. Si nu ma refer la guvern in general, ci la atitudinea si agenda unor ministri. Exista prioritati mai mari care pot beneficia de inteligenta si experienta acestor ministrii, printre care si restructurarea unui aparat de stat care a ajuns sa ne sufoce pe toti.

Cele doua partide de opozitie declara sus si tare ca Guvernul Boc nu are solutii. Uneori asa pare – guvernul asta sufera de un deficit de oameni care stiu sa comunice. Insa nici marii comunicatori din PSD si PNL, impreuna cu echipele lor de strategi nu au prezentat solutii. Si nu, “eliminarea evaziunii fiscale” nu este o solutie atita timp cit nimeni nu ne spune si cum se va face.

Personal nu cred ca in Romania se poate face ceva atita timp cit stam pe un butoi cu pulbere, partidele bat cimpii (chiar si PDL-ul este vinovat in privinta asta), iar judecatorii sint foarte rapizi in a apara niste interese personale si a da decizii prin care reusesc sa strice totul fara sa aiba o logica. In concluzie, Romania anului 2010 nu isi poate reveni.

Singura sansa este o criza serioasa, in asa fel incit toti sa o simtim. Cind vom ajunge pe fundul marii ne vom ridica la suprafata. Foarte probabil multi vor fi deja cu burta in sus, dar asta deja nu mai conteaza.

Pe de alta parte, este timpul ca PDL sa isi revina ca partid. Prea mult timp s-a ignorat activitatea de partid si conservarea capitalului politic cistigat in ultimii ani. Prea multe gafe de comunicare ale guvernului s-au rasfrins asupra partidului, si de prea multe ori partidul s-a aparat cu argumente slabe improtriva atacului desantat al unor indivizi care se pricep la toate subiectele servite pe tava de marii moderatori ai televiziunilor de stiri.

A venit timpul ca partidul sa se concentreze pe re-construirea structurii pe care Presedintele Basescu a inceput-o in 2000. Este timpul sa redescopere doctrina. Este timpul sa redescopere identitatea partidului care a avut forta sa cistige singur impotriva tuturor.

Acest lucru nu se poate face decit daca structura de conducere a partidului se desparte de structura de conducere a guvernului. Prim-Ministrul Emil Boc si Presedintele PDL Emil Boc sint mult prea mult pentru persoana Emil Boc. Si nu din cauza ca nu este in stare. Dimpotriva, Emil Boc are prea multa putere de munca. Din pacate ziua nu are 48 de ore.

Intelectualii Presedintelui, cei atit de mult injurati – Cristian Preda, Sever Voinescu, Teodor Baconsky, Monica Macovei, Vladimir Tismaneanu, Valeriu Stoica – pot aduce forta doctrinei in PDL. Impreuna cu activistii de partid care au creat o structura nationala de invidiat (ma refer la Blaga, Berceanu, Videanu), pot crea cea mai puternica forta politica din Romania. Singura bazata pe o doctrina reala, nu pe logica meschina a cistigului cu orice pret.

Conditia este ca tripleta Blaga-Videanu-Berceanu sa inteleaga ca un pas inapoi nu inseamna sfirsitul lor ca politicieni. Dimpotriva, rolul lor in PDL a fost si va fi in continuare crucial si nu cred ca exista membru al acestui partid care sa nu le recunoasca meritele.

Personal am hotarit ca nu mai pot sa stau pe margine si sa aplaud sau sa injur in functie de ce imi arata pe sticla un post sau altul de televiziune.

Am speranta ca Romania nu poate fi salvata decit de un partid cu adevarat de dreapta. Un partid care are forta sa sustina pina in pinzele albe interesele celor care tin economia in picioare. Interesele celor care prefera sa munceasca in loc sa cerseasca ajutor de la stat. Chiar daca asta inseamna pierderea unei runde de alegeri.

Cam astea ar fi motivele pentru care m-am inscris in PDL. Si pentru care voi face tot posibilul sa pun umarul la reconstruirea acestui partid, chiar daca uneori nu voi fi de acord cu ce fac sau spun unii dintre colegii mei.*

After two days of fiddling, downloading and uninstalling apps, manually force-quitting programs and waiting for servers to be upgraded, I finally got video calling to work — sort of. Sometimes there was only audio and a black screen, sometimes only a freeze-frame; at best, the video was blocky and the audio delay absurd.

To make video calling work, you have to install an app yourself: either Fring or Qik. But we never did get Fring to work, and Qik requires people you call to press a Talk button when they want to speak. The whole thing is confusing and, to use the technical term, iffy.

The fundamental difference between Apple and HTC is that Apple will never, ever put hardware in a phone just because they can. They’ll put it in when they’ll have the software to make it 100% functional.

Mai ţin minte că am participat la prima mineriadă, cea din iarnă şi era foarte frig. Chiar ţin minte că era foarte frig…Din câte am aflat noi… locuitorii Bucureştiului vroiau să spargă, să fure… iar în faţa Parlamentului, sau mă rog nu ştiu exact locul unde eram fiindcă nu cunosc prea bine Bucureştiul, a venit Iliescu şi ne-a mulţumit. De fapt noi am fost de la întreprindere trimişi. Şi ni s-a zis că trebuie să mergem la Bucureşti.

G.L. (5/31/1970). Tânărul de 20 de ani nu a participat la manifestaţiile din Piaţa Universităţii. În data de 14.06.1990 a ieşit din Hotelul Tranzit, moment în care a fost atacat de un grup de mineri. A fost obligat să urce apoi într-un autobuz cu care au fost transportaţi la sediul Poliţiei Capitalei. Pe platoul instituţiei a fost bătut până a leşinat, fiind ulterior reţinut la Unitatea Militară de la Măgurele. A petrecut şapte zile într-un garaj unde se mai aflau, după mărturia victimei, alături de alte sute de femei şi bărbaţi reţinuţi.

N.G (2/24/1953). Lăcătuş mecanic la întreprinderea Semănătoarea. M.V (3/5/1944). Bulibaşă. S.A.I.-Ilfov. Rănit lovire/reţinut. U.M.0575-Măgurele. În dimineaţa zilei de 14.06.1990 se deplasa spre Comuna Mogoşoaia. În zona Bisericii Sf. Gheorghe a fost agresat fizic de un grup de mineri, dus la Secţia 1 Poliţie. Persoana vătămată a fost ulterior transportată şi reţinută la Unitatea Militară de la Măgurele.

G.V (1/5/1958). Matematician, Institutul de Matematică (Academia Română). În noaptea de 13.06.1990 se afla pe Calea Dorobanţi observând evenimentele din zona Televiziunii. Atunci a fost agresat fizic de militari M.Ap.N., fiind apoi reţinut la Unitatea Militară de la Măgurele.

Pe linga mineri si Armata a avut un rol important in represiunea din Iunie 1990. Astept cu nerabdare clipa in care Statul isi va accepta vinovatia si Ion Iliescu va plati. Sper sa nu ajung si eu la virsta lui actuala (81 ani) fara sa stiu adevarul.

The Mac vs. PC debate has often found people using a car analogy to explain things. I keep coming back to that when thinking about iPhone vs. Android. For a long time, iPhone felt like a Lexus while Android was more like a Kia. With recent upgrades, Android has transformed into more of a Honda. But with iPhone 4, the iPhone is now an Aston Martin (it was James Bond, remember).

But the crazy thing is that the iPhone is an Aston Martin with a Honda-price. Meanwhile, Android remains a Honda at a Honda-price — it’s a good deal, but it’s not an iPhone-deal.

First impressions:

1. It feels a bit slower on my iPhone 3GS than the previous version of iPhone OS.
2. The Notes application is finally usable – it automatically syncs with GMail or Mobile Me account. Once saved on the iPhone they will show up in GMail instantly.
3. Love the new unified Inbox. This alone is worth the upgrade
4. The camera zoom is good enough, adding a bit more functionality to the only camera I cary around all the time.
5. The new folders feature works like a charm. My 10+ screens are now down to 3 and I have more apps installed. It was becoming completely unmanageable to keep track of my apps.
6. Multitasking – Done right! Although I don’t think there were more than a couple of occasions when I missed this feature, it’s a welcome addition to iOS.
7. Places in Photos – I love it!
8. Homescreen Wallpaper – It sucks! I wish there was a way to avoid it (other than having a black image as my wallpaper)

In short – it’s the upgrade I was waiting for, plus some more. Hoping that Apple will make it a bit faster by the time they release the final version this month.

That’s the thing about Apple marketing. They don’t talk about how many gigabytes of memory or how many CPU cycles or how many apps (much). They aim for your heart, and show you how technology can make your life better during its most important moments.

What I always used in my class was the example of the $3,000 shirt. 1 shirt (“poet style”, with yoke, sleeves, collar) takes approximately 7 hours of hard work to sew. To weave the cloth for that shirt takes approximately 7 times the 7 hours of sewing, i.e., 49 hours of hard work. To spin the thread for the cloth for that shirt takes approximately 7 * 7 * 7, i.e., 399 hours of spinning.

So, irrespective of the time either raising the wool (and the subsequent fleecing, washing, and carding required) or the linen (and the subsequent retting, hackling, etc. required), in that one shirt you have 400 (okay, I rounded) hours of hard work.  Multiply that times $7.25 (minimum wage) and you have a $2,900.00 shirt (okay, I rounded again).

After pointing out that then you’d have to figure out costs for pants or skirt, bodice or vest, jacket or cloak, stockings, etc….

I have had students who remembered that lesson for years.  And it perfectly explains why the Industrial Revolution was indeed all about clothing.

Cota unica nu a dus nici la mai buna colectare a impozitelor, nici la reducerea economiei subterane, nici la aducerea in circuitul economic a veniturilor suplimentare obtinute de cei cu venituri mari, in urma reducerii impozitului de la 40 la 16%. In schimb a agravat polarizarea sociala si a marit consumul de lux, parazitar.

Ma aflu printre cei pentru care cota unica a insemnat ca se poate intoarce (fie chiar si temporar) in Romania. Si care este foarte fericit ca poate consuma de lux, parazitar, in fiecare zi, diferenta de 24%.

Deocamdată scăderea salariilor bugetarilor cu 25 la sută va avea două efecte: nemulţumirea profundă a bugetarilor va fi primul şi o diminuare substanţială a veniturilor la bugetul de stat va fi al doilea. Aceasta fiindcă toţi bugetarii plătesc impozite la bugetul de stat şi sunt o sursă sigură. Dacă vor apărea şi alte efecte vom vedea după.

Eu astept linistit ziua in care imbecilii angajati ca functionari la stat isi vor da seama ca trebuie sa puna osul la treaba, ca altfel ajung sa munceasca la privat, si cu aia nu e de joaca. Si tot in ziua aia poate pensionarii, somerii, mamele tinere care stau in concediu de maternitate de 3 ani pe banii mei, oamenii in concediu medical luat pe spaga or sa priceapa si ei ca nu se mai poate, nu mai avem de unde sa le dam si lor.

Sau nu o sa mai vrem, si poate o punem si de o revolutie. De data asta a oamenilor care muncesc.

I argue that Apple now has not one but two monopolies:

I)    A nearly-total monopoly on computer (and pocket computer) systems designed with good taste.
II)  A total monopoly on the Microsoft-free, hassle-free personal computer. [1]

Mr. Jobs is indeed starting to behave like that other convicted monopolist we know and love.  Yet unlike the latter, Jobs did not engage in underhanded business practices to create his monopolies. They were handed to him on a silver platter by the rest of the market, which insists on peddling either outright crap or cheap imitations of Apple’s aesthetic.

The weakness was found by the University of Michigan scientist. Instead of using brute force, they stressed the processor containing the authentication key by submitting it to voltage stress. Subsequent errors allowed scientists to reconstitute the key. The way to avoid such stress-based attack would be to modify CPU to make them insensitive to such voltage variation.
